GUEST POST: A man, a stack of business cards, and a Doxie One scanner

Doxie Scanner

Guest post by Mike McNulty First let me start by mentioning I am a huge fan of Evernote. I even tell everyone that if I could only have one app, it would be Evernote.

Now to the review of the Doxie One... In a word WOW.

My job requires me to see a lot of people and I gather a lot of business cards. For me, it has been really hard to organize and do something with hundreds and hundreds of business cards. That was until I decided to use the power of Evernote.

I love how I have been able to organize and access all my business cards through Evernote. Once I figured the best way to manage all these cards, I needed to figure out the easiest and fastest way to get the cards into Evernote. That is where Doxie has been a huge time saver. The ability to scan business cards quickly and accurately has been a great help for my business and me.

I set the scanner to the smallest paper size (a bit bigger than a business card) and just start running the cards through. After scanning hundreds of cards in a few minutes, I could easily drag into Evernote notebooks based on the cards. I did add an extra step of importing into iPhoto arranging and doing batch changes to rotation and titles and tags for better organization. One tip that would have saved me more time would be to arrange cards by notebook & names before scanning so that they are in order from the start.

Once in Evernote, notebook searching is a breeze. Evernote uses OCR to scan all the text on the cards and makes searching easy. Now when I arrive in a town I can search by city & company and know names of people before I walk in the door.

The Doxie makes this all easy, accurate & fast. By scanning directly to an SD card and even in color the whole process is so simple. And, the Doxie is incredibly small - it is roughly 3" wide x 11" long x 2" high.

I'm a pretty tech savvy individual and the Doxie thoroughly impressed me. I'd give this time-saving, organizing tool a 10 out of 10!
